Proto -> Solder = Not Always Easy, and other...
I can build all day, try new stuff, etc on my solderless breadboards. But, when I try to move the project to soldering, I get all meh. Maybe the new tips for the soldering iron will help. I’ve literally breadboarded 10 or so things I could have made into actual things. So, I ordered some solderable breadboards of assorted designs. Pretty slick. I just need to figure out how to cut the...

Handmade Electronic Music by Nicolas Collins →
If you enjoy electronic music and tinkering, this is your book. It’s amazingly full of all sort of wonders. Each handed to you with some story and some love. Inside, you will find help with learning how to make sounds with electronics, how to manipulate those sounds, and then destroy them. If you are a tinkerer, check the book out. I have found it very useful and have learned quite a bit...

What are these for?
That is what I asked myself last week when a Jameco order from 1.5 months ago arrived finally. Some of the parts were on backorder and I just got everything. But, the problem is, I don’t remember what I ordered some of the parts for! Can anyone tell me why I ordered 1N4148 Diodes? Thanks.

Getting back to work...
I’ve been sort of taking a break from my projects. Partly due to waiting on parts, partly due to money, and partly due to having life intruding on my freetime when I normally work on bends and such. I jokingly mentioned that I didn’t have the free time I had lately, and life bent me over and gave me the free time. I’ve still got another amp I am working on, and a new amp I want...

Project: Sipp E. Kupp - Loops →
A few people have asked me what the music I am playing in Looptastic Producer is in some of my video demos. So, I thought I’d share with you guys. A few years ago, I created a fake goofy commercial for a fake rapper called Sipp E. Kupp. It was to be used for a podcast that I was doing with a friend. As I got to working on the project, I realized I’d need bits of several songs to use...

Recommend alienmachine pleeease :) →
Hi everyone. I don’t normally ask for folks to pimp my stuff. I do this blog for myself, but love that some people find it useful or what not. So, would you kindly click the link to recommend us. And by us, I mean me. A little love here and there certainly doesn’t hurt my ego. Thanks. ams

Hmmm
For some reason I cannot get any new posts I’ve made to show up on the stylized portion of my blog here. I even deleted and reposted the last one just to make sure it was not just me. I’ve also loaded the site on 3 other computers/devices, same problem there. I hope Tumblr is just broke and it’s not a problem with the blog or I will be angry and stab someone.

Project: Gakken SX-150
Now that the Drone Lab build is complete, I can get back to bending and relocating my Gakken SX-150 into a proper container. Since I so totally <3 Really Useful Boxes, I am going to use their pencil box for it. The container is big enough to hold the board, all the new pots and a larger speaker. And you can see into it, which makes it cooler. I got the SX out and started digging around,...

Project: Drone Lab
I finally got the time to start the Drone Lab today. I spent about 30-45 minutes organizing and counting the parts, then dove right in. I spent about 4 hours doing assembly afterwards. I ran out of time as I finished adding the top two toggle switches. Still have the rest of them, the pots, etc to do.

Project: Destructifier 1.5
I’ve finally completed the circuit build portion of the newer amp I’m building for a friend. I still have yet to decorate it however. I’m letting my bro take it home and play to make sure it works right and everything is functional. Once I verify it works, I will pull it apart and decorate. Almost done!

Project: Amp 2
Project: Amp 2 I’ve started breadboarding up a new amp, similar to Destructifier. I’m shooting for a few things I couldn’t fit on the original, like a feedback loop, a better volume control, and hopefully some new noise goodness. Possibly a LFO if I can figure it out by the time this thing comes together. I’ve had a request for one from a friend, so I figured I’d...

Casper Electronics: Drone Lab
I’ve had my eye on Casper Electronics sweet ass Drone Lab kit for a bit. I got a notice yesterday that the housing kits were back in stock that reminded me I wanted to score one. I think I am ready circuit/solder wise for a job of this size and complexity. I hope I am. So, once I get paid, I will pick one up. I am really looking forward to taking the build on and then getting to play with...

Really Useful Boxes, Inc. →
I’ve had a few people ask me what the cool little boxes I use for my projects are. So I thought I’d share with yall just in case. They are from a company in the UK called Really Useful Boxes. I get mine from Staples and Office Depot here in the US. The size I prefer is their .2L box, as seen here on my site. I’ve built an amp and APC in them. I also use them to hold extra...

Amps = cool.
I’ve somewhat recently started trying to find the right simple low power amp circuit to add to some of my bends. I want to be able to add some feedback and distortion and that crunchy/overdrive sound to things. I’ve got a few good schematics but have yet to find one in particular I like. I know GetLoFi.com has a nice little very simple one, and I’ve discovered a few others with...

Project: Little Tikes Pop Tunes Keyboard - Take 2
I am a glutton for punishment it seems, because I picked up another of these damn keyboards with the tiny freaking resistors. And plan on bending it or trying. Yesterday, I opened it up and started figuring out what I wanted to do. First thing I did was replace all of the red/green/yellow LEDs with ultra bright blue ones. I’m also going to do something to the dome the LEDs are in so...
